Jason Welborn became the new British Middleweight Champion with a split decision points win over Tommy Langford at an electric and jam-packed Walsall Town Hall.
The highly anticipated fight went the full length of its scheduled 12 rounds and was decided on a split decision after the two fighters battled brilliantly for what seemed liked every second of every minute of every round.
Welborn and Langford enjoyed both periods of success and high volumes of rousing support as the ‘Battle of the Baggies’ – the headline bout of BCB Promotion’s ‘Neutral Ground’ fight card, took place. And both fighters rose to the glittering occasion leaving everything in the ring as they boxed and scrapped their way onto the BCB Fight of the Year nominations list.
As you’d expect, Social media was soon buzzing in response to what had turned out to be a real epic.
Credit goes to both fighters for putting on such breath-taking ring performances.
Outside of the ring credit must of course go to Errol Johnson’s BCB Promotions (and their sponsors and supporters) for staging this outstanding and most memorable event, as they continually raise the bar where boxing events, especially in the Midlands region in the UK are concerned.
And of course, massive credit goes to the huge amount of fight fans that, with their exuberance and wealth of songs, chants and cheers, made Friday 4th May a very special night for boxing in Walsall indeed.
