MBC HQ is pleased to announce the release of its pilot boxing podcast which is now available on Anchor, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, Breaker, Pocket Casts, Radio Public and Stitcher.
In the first of what we hope will be a series of podcasts, Jonny Loverock is at Walsall Town Hall where Levi Ferguson, fighting in his hometown takes on Yorkshire born Danny Little in a 4 round Super Welterweight contest.
Said Loverock, “We’re trying to do something new, something different. Lots of boxing shows fill their content with words but we’re more interested in sounds. The real sound of a boxing event. The crowd, the action in the ring, the footwork, the punches, the MC, the referee, the officials, they all play a part but usually in the media world, with most of the attention focused on the boxers, which of course you would expect, the rest can be easily overshadowed and consequently overlooked.
“We’re trying to create something that sounds as real as it is. We want listeners to have a real, raw, ringside audio experience.”
On his first stint as a boxing commentator he added, “What can I say. I enjoyed the fight and I enjoyed the night. I’m no expert but I think I know a thing or two about boxing so I’m happy to talk about it. My aim though is to learn, improve and keep improving. Give me time and watch this space.”
It’s not the first time MBC HQ has trialled a media venture. Near collapse of the company last August was partly stoked by the failed YouTube and Instagram accounts which were eventually either closed or sidelined as part of our rebranding initiative.
“To have the support of the community that we work for and with makes a massive difference.” said MBC’s Editor Mkuu Amani.
“That’s why we have to thank all of the Promotors that have welcomed us as MBC has developed, particularly Errol Johnson’s BCB Promotions, Tommy Owens Promotions and Andy Flute who introduced us to the EBF.
“Producing our first ever podcast presents an interesting and exciting challenge and one that we’ll be aiming to live up to in our own unique kind of way. We’ve always tried to produce good quality articles and photographs. If we can add a good quality podcast experience to what we do it’ll be a great 2019, not just for MBC and its followers or readers but for Midlands boxing too.”
