Say ‘Hello.’ to Sam Eggington.
Otherwise known in the boxing circles as ‘The Savage.’
Born in Birmingham on Friday 15 October 1993. That’s the same year that ‘Boom! Shake The Room.’ by Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince was in the UK top 5 hits. Coincidence?
According to BoxRec he fights at Super Welterweight, a Division currently dominated by the likes of Kell Brook, Jermell Charlo (Current WBC World Super Welterweight Champion), Julian Williams, Jeff Horn, Jarrett Hurd (Current WBA Super World Super Welterweight Champion), Jamie Munguia and our own Jason Welborn who is currently ranked at no 12 by the WBA.
Sam has had some pro career.
He fought in Swansea on his debut in 2012, securing a points win over the Welsh fighter, Leon Findlay. The following year he became the BBBofC Midlands Area Welterweight Champion by beating Stephen ‘The Fierce’ Pearce.
Of the 13 fights Eggington has had since (and including) the 7 March 2015 WBC International Silver Welterweight Title fight vs Shayne Singleton to his most recent contest on 8 September 2018, all but 3 of them have been Title fights.
As boxers carve out their status in the aged old bark of history’s boxing tree, who is too say what legacy they can or will leave behind.
Eggington has already, at just 25 years of age, carved out an extremely impressive rendering that will hold its ground for many many years to come. How he responds in his next fight and into the future, to the Sept 18 shock defeat at the hands of Hassan Mwakinyo will do the rest.
So, who is Sam Eggington?
Well, if you didn’t know, here’s a small glimpse.
Wait. Maybe not so small. Let’s try, a few different views – a few selected views, from 2013 til now. Admittedly, not all his fights, nor all his thoughts or moves, just some of the media that MBC was drawn to.
2019 is gonna be a big year for ‘The Savage.’
MBC eagerly awaits his return.
